  1. (1)  a.  For children under six months of age, protective clothing and limited exposure are recommended.  When unable to avoid exposure, small amounts of sun screen can be applied at any age.

  2. (2)  False.  It should be reapplied after swimming, sweating, and/or every 2 hours.

  5. (5)  b.  The lowest percentage available should be used for young children and reapplied         as needed.

  6. (6)  a.  DEET may be applied to clothing or infant-carriers.

  10. (10)False.  Participation by children should be limited to observing fireworks set-up or designed by professional pyro-technicians with permits.  Serious injuries can and will occur, even with the smallest of fireworks.

In preparation for this column, I answered approximately 40 similar questions and got 5 wrong (and those questions seemed easier).  Bottom line:  Enjoy the summer, but enjoy it safely!  The alternative isn’t so fun…
