1. Will you see my baby in the hospital? If you plan on delivering your baby at Danbury Hospital, we will see your baby daily during your stay.
2. When are the first office visits scheduled? Depending on your needs, we generally see newborns within the first few days following discharge to ensure a healthy transition.
3. What are your feelings on immunizations? We follow the guidelines set by the American Academy of Pediatrics. The immunization schedule parallels the well visit schedule.
4. What are your thoughts on MMR and Autism? The most accurate, scientific, and reproducible studies by experts in this field show no link between MMR vaccination and autism. Unfortunately, signs of autism become apparent during the second year of life, shortly following administration of vaccines.
5. Do you have concerns regarding mercury in thimerosol? Only some of our influenza vaccines contain thimerosol which contains a minute amount of a type of mercury, different from the mercury implicated in neurologic disease.
6. How easy is it to have my child seen? If your child is sick, we will see them on a same-day basis. Well visits are generally scheduled in advance.
7. What is the typical waiting room time? Our goal is to ensure that you are seen on a timely basis, with minimal wait. If your wait time exceeds 20-30 minutes, please inform our staff.
8. Are you board certified? Both Drs. Auerbach and Nowacki are board certified through the American Pediatrics. Both are fellows of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
9. When can I call with questions? Will I speak with a doctor? Any time. Please do not hesitate to call. During the day, your first contact may be with one of our experienced nurses or with one of the doctors. After hours, you will be put in contact directly with either doctor within 20 minutes.
10. Do you have weekend hours? Occasionally, our office is open on weekends (approximately once-twice per month). During remaining weekends, we share coverage with 4 other pediatric groups who will see your child as needed.
11. Other questions? Please do not hesitate to call or visit us. We are available for scheduled pre-natal visits.
